I did Nu Gundam so I feel like I needed to do Sazabi. This also feels like one of those kits that everyone who’s really getting into Gunpla does.
I never really liked “gloss” or candy paints. I used TurboDorks Redrum metallic red for this. I wasn’t sure how preshading was going to work with the metallic paint, especially since I had to thin it significantly to even get it to go through my airbrush.
Prior to the red it was based in black, then I tried to carefully make the center of the panels as red as possible, and feather out the color towards the edges so it looked a bit darker. I think it worked okay. It was also panel lined but I didn’t try to go too crazy. I also tried to hand paint some of the metallic details on the back skirt, just to see if I could color separate it a bit more. I’m all new to this so pretty much everything I do is some sort of experimentation
I like the way metallics look when they’re matte coated, feels like a brushed metal. So I laid on my normal matte clear
